Happy New School Year! I am excited to welcome both our new and returning families to the start of a new school year. I hope that the summer months brought everyone the rest and, of course, rejuvenation needed to tackle all that awaits us in the 2009-2010 school year.
Lincoln enjoyed great experiences and successes in the 2008-2009 school year and it is my personal goal to continue to lead our school towards even greater accomplishments this year. What will remain paramount in our work is to ensure that each students’ academic, social, and emotional needs are met. We realize that the foundation for grooming great citizens begins in elementary school and the staff and I remain committed to doing our very best in offering our students a well-rounded education that is based on meaningful relationships, relevant experiences, and rigorous learning.
As I have stated many times in my two short years at Lincoln, the staff and I cannot do the work of educating our children alone. It is essential that parents, guardians, and caregivers play an active role in their child’s/children’s education. Simply taking the time to read with your child positively and hugely impacts their learning. I encourage parents to stay in close contact with teachers to ensure that the lines of communication and collaboration remain open so that our students’ needs are being met.
We at Lincoln truly believe in the spirit of volunteerism and offer many opportunities for involvement throughout the school year. Parents, guardians, and other family members are welcome to participate in the many meetings, events, activities and learning opportunities that take place during the year. First, and most important, is to become a member of our school’s PTA, which offers a variety of avenues for you to offer support. You can be a room parent, an art docent, help out in the classroom, and much, much more! Parents are also needed as members of our many school site committees, such as School Site Council, ELMAC, and Title One. Your role and presence at Lincoln is extremely important and valuable to us. Please always feel free and welcome to offer any support that works best for you and remember to visit school often.
I look forward to working with everyone this school year - close collaboration between home and school are essential to promote the success and well-being of our students. If I can be of assistance in any way, please feel free to contact me. Another great school year lies ahead!
